The Dragon Tablets: Iteration Three – Weapons

Crafted Weapons and Shields by Bethesda

Building on the material from the Crafting Materials and Jobs post, we have now come to the weapons, the first post on lifesavers for any adventurer.

In this post we’re using GURPS Basic Set, GURPS Dungeon Fantasy 1: Adventurers, and GURPS Low-Tech for gear and refer to them as Basic Set, Dungeon Fantasy, and Low-Tech.

Material costs were listed in the above-mentioned post. This post will list what materials are needed to craft an item and what that item is sold for. Anyone who wants to calculate how much the craftsman is paid for their job can calculate the material cost and subtract it from this cost.

Bows and crossbows have been skipped on purpose. The next post will be all about those as created with The Deadly Spring from Pyramid #3/33.

Weapons

Some weapons have been taken from Basic Set and Low-Tech and are described there. While other weapons were designed in Iteration Two. These weapon stats could represent more than one weapon as they, despite their differences, all fit the description and the stats.

Modifiers

Not all weapons follow the standard. If they are crafted by another material or is otherwise better or worse than the standard, the classification of those differences will be listed here.

Balanced: It works as Balanced from Dungeon Fantasy Chapter Five. CF +4.
Cheap: It works as Cheap from Low-Tech Chapter Five. CF -0.6.
Dragonbone: Melee weapons have the same weight and have a +1 bonus to skill and +2 bonus to damage. It also gives -3 reactions from dragons. CF +29.
Dragonsteel: Metal weapons weigh the same as steel and have a +1 bonus to skill and +2 bonus to damage. It also gives -3 reactions from The Knights of Celemana and the friends and family of the rightful owner. CF +29.
Elven: Elven melee weapons and bows have range and damage as if the wielder had +2 to ST. CF +16.
Entercian Silver: Metal weapons can be made of Entercian Silver to exploit monster Vulnerability. These weapons have normal weight. CF +19.
Fine: It works as Fine from Dungeon Fantasy Chapter Five. CF varies.
Horn: It works as Horn from Low-Tech Chapter Five. CF -0.8.
Gnomish: It works as Fine and Orichalcum from Dungeon Fantasy Chapter Five. CF varies.
Iron: Not affected by Fine and better quality. Always considered cheap.
Matruskan Steel: It works as Orichalcum. It never dulls. It has half the weight of steel. And gives a +1 bonus to skill and damage. CF +43.
Meteoric: It works as Meteoric from Dungeon Fantasy Chapter Five. CF +19.
Ornate: It works as Ornate from Dungeon Fantasy Chapter Five. CF varies.
Poorly Balanced: It works as Cheap from Low-Tech Chapter Five. CF -0.6.
Very Fine: It works as Very Fine from Dungeon Fantasy Chapter Five. CF +19.
Wood: It works as Wood from Low-Tech Chapter Five. This does not affect weapons that normally are made from wood. CF -0.9.

Dragonbone, Dragonsteel, Entercian Silver, Gnomish, Horn, Iron, Matruskan Steel, Meteoric, and Wood are mutually exclusive. Cheap, Fine, and Very Fine are mutually exclusive. Balanced and Poorly Balanced are mutually exclusive. Elven and Gnomish are mutually exclusive.

Melee Weapon Table

Listed weapons are divided according to the skill needed to wield them competently. Some weapons can be wielded by more than one skill and will be listed for all skills, but the details will only be listed on the first. Weapons designed in Iteration Two will be given a complete table workup. Categories with no weapons or only weapons that have been described elsewhere will not be included in this list.

The assignment of how much of each material is needed in a given weapon may be way off from what reality would dictate, but this is a best guess based on no to minimal research to get something workable in the setting.

Weapons marked with an asterisk (*) come from Marshlands exclusively. Most of the other weapons may have been developed in more than one place. The weapon notes are taken from Low-Tech.
